Our coverage spans all congenital conditions that directly results in death of the puppy that is younger than one year of age. Documentation of death from a congenital condition from a licensed veterinarian must be submitted to Sunstriders Kennels.
Upon acceptance of documentation, the client is eligible to a new puppy of similar receipt value from a litter and breed of your choosing.

Sunstriders begins with the NeoPar vaccine to protect against the Canine Parvovirus; a 91% fatal contagion to puppies of six to twenty weeks old if left untreated.

In the rarest of circumstances, congenital conditions may appear in otherwise healthy puppies that robs them of their physical abilities. Sunstriders Kennel's congenital condition guarantee offers a free replacement puppy of similar receipt value if a veterinarian documented congenital condition directly causes death of the puppy.

for Your Growing Puppy
Great nutrition is essential for a puppy's first year of life. What Sunstriders feeds puppies from the first breath to eight weeks old differs from that of your puppies continuing growth over it's lifetime with you. But we will not leave you lost in the sea of pet food options, because damage done by deficiencies or imbalances of minerals, vitamins, proteins, and sodium can last a lifetime. The same can be said for damage from inadequate amounts of food.
Too ensure feeding is not a factor in the development of an unhealthy puppy, follow these simple rules.
Don't Limit the Scoops
Twice daily (sometimes more), check the feed bowl. Feed the puppy as often as the bowl is 3/4 (three - quarters) or more empty, and do not limit nor measure how much the puppy eats. Puppies naturally self regulate how much food they need; the puppy knows when they are in a growth spurt - you don't. You see the end results of the growth spurt and say "He's growing!" whereas the puppy says "I knew a week ago I was growing!" Like timing the stock markets, you're unlikely to time the growth spurts.
When the puppy has been needing more food than what's been given by just a single calendar day the puppy's self regulation fails. They over eat to compensate for the lack of needed food, and thus develops problems - such as, stomach bloat, GI tract issues, choking from not taking the time to chew, and eventual OCDs.
Buy Nutrient, Protein, and Mineral Dense Pet Food
Puppies are alike people in this regard. Eat junk food every day and you're bound to feel sick and sluggish. Joints and muscles don't develop properly, wounds struggle to heal, and it takes a tool on the personality. Real foods avoid all those problems and more.
"Don't Limit the Scoops" sounds expensive and easy to say from the breeders side, but the costs per scoop are lower than those not on our list. How so? The puppy goes back to the food bowl less times to eat less kibbles, because the body fills faster with more of what it needs. You do the same. Eat a steak or salad and you'll be keeping your hands away from the refrigerator most of the day. The same is true for puppies.

Reserve and Adopt

Adoptions are simple with Sunstriders Kennels. If you're a good person, you deserve to have a great puppy. We do not turn down for *just because* reasons like certain animal rescues and adoptions. Elderly, has children, doesn't work from home, or has other dogs are not valid reasons for turning down a prospective buyer (but we do have a locked gate if we determine a prospective owner is unfit).

Visit or Facetime to Reserve
A couple puppies or entire litters have caught your eye. It's a big choice that can't be made by looking at a listing. Contact us to schedule an in - person visitation to our kennels; we don't refuse visitation to our property for those we believe are a good fit for a Sunstriders puppy. Nor do we force our clients go to an interstate's gas station!
If you're unable to visit Sunstriders Kennels in - person we offer Facetime with the litters, puppies, and parents. You can hold and play with the puppies, meet the parents, see same-age and matured siblings, and go over included with each puppy there veterinarian, grooming, microchipping, and other services.
Once you've chosen a puppy (or a few) you want to purchase, we require a $100 minimum reservation ("non-refundable security deposit") on the puppy. Your reservation ensures the puppy is removed from the public for-sale pool. We remove any applicable advertising, marketplace listings, and update the for-sale status on our available puppies webpage as "reserved"

Puppies grow so quickly, and emotions of a great many families run high after a reservation. We add to the excitement with routine updates on your puppies well being. Professional pictures and videos are provided to those with a reservation at two, four, six, and eight weeks of age. And of course, contact us with any questions in the interim; we answer everything from recommended toys to when the first veterinarian appointment should be.
Go Home Day
At six weeks old, your puppy has properly weaned off the mother's milk. Full colostrum has been given to the puppy to ensure healthy development, alongside multiple vaccines and dewormers to not risk exposure. The puppy is ready to go from our home to yours.
Sunstriders will contact you to setup a time and date to pickup at our farm or deliver. All buyers will have healthcare information thoroughly explained. A West Virginia state bill of sale must be signed by the buyer per puppy purchased, and of course payment rendered prior to signatures.
If applicable, the Fi Nano identification microchip's activation instructions will be gone over. For limited and full registrations with the American Kennel Club, registrations will be signed and explained - too.
For international, non-continental US, and US Armed Forces serving (stationed) overseas, Sunstriders Kennels will have the proper documentations in-hand for the import/export or TSA processes. If the buyer can not be continentally state - side for the delivery, we request a trusted designee to handle the delivery with Susntriders.
Identity Microchip
From Fi Nano
Sunstriders Kennels offers each puppy an optional identification microchip that stores the owner and breeders contact information - at no additional charge. If your puppy is lost or stolen, and Humane Society, Animal Control, or another party uses a universal microchip scanner, the owner and breeder can be contact to retake possession of the puppy before the relevant authority's euthanization window concludes.
The microchip truly acts as a lifeline. Dogs can't speak and write, so it's up to us owners and breeders to give the puppy a means of telling the world "Please call my family and breeder".
*Microchipping is optional, not GPS tracked, and is included in the purchase price.
Way Back Home Program
Sunstriders Kennels does not breed just to see our puppies euthanized in animal shelters when they were lost or stolen, and there owners have not been found. That's why we started the Way Back Program in conjunction with issuing identification microchips.
If your puppy is lost or stolen with an identification microchip, then there's a good chance that Humane Society, Animal Control, or other parties will use a universal microchip scanner to find the owner and breeder's contact information.But not every owner's information remains unchanged throughout the many years of a dogs life.
Sunstriders Kennels contact information remains on the puppies microchip for lifetime. That gives puppies an opportunity to be reunited with Sunstriders, which gives us the chance to comb through our records to find it's owner. Especially when the owner's current information is not reflected on the microchip - such as, surnames through marriage or divorce, moved addresses, or new email and phone numbers.
If a puppy can not be reunited with the owners, whether through an inability to contact or a criminal animal abuse case, then the puppy will find there way back home to our family farm.
